EDMUND DE WAAL, ON THE WHITE ROAD

On the White Road is a limited-edition series of four fine bone china plates, created by renowned ceramicist and writer Edmund de Waal in collaboration with the V&A and Wedgwood. Each design draws from a distinct object within the V&A and the V&A Wedgwood Collection, reflecting the museum’s expansive archive and its deep connection to the legacy of Wedgwood.

Commissioned to document this project, I followed the series' development from concept to creation. De Waal’s work is a quiet study in material and meaning, where every mark speaks to a history of craft, trade, and cultural exchange. These plates are not just decorative objects, but vessels of narrative, bridging centuries through fine bone china and thoughtful design.
